DOMOTEX Middle East: ATTRACTION CENTER FOR CONSTRUCTION AND TEXTILE SECTORS
The second DOMOTEX Middle East, which took place in Istanbul at the IFM Istanbul Expo Center on 7-10 November 2013, attracted considerable decision-making authorities of especially the construction and textile sectors. Purchasing groups and vendor delegations, which were especially hosted both from Middle East and Turkey, constituted a useful trade volume from the beginning to the end of the fair.
The fair hosted high-ranking delegates from industry associations and institutions, companies from many countries such as Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Oman, Iran and Iraq. Among the visitors were leading architects and interior designers, senior purchasing managers and project managers responsible for major construction projects.
China, Germany, Iran and India participated in the fair with their official country fair pavilions as well as participants from 16 countries all over the world.
CEPC Special Customs Officer Sanjeev Kr. Sharma from Indian Fair Pavilion told about Domotex Middle East that: “We would like to thank the authorities of the fair for allowing us to participate in the DOMOTEX Middle East events as the Indian Carpet Export Support Council... We are here with many participants to do serious business with potential buyers, especially with Turkish customers... Most of our participants have achieved their goals by doing very well in the fair... M/S Persian Carpets, the sister company of Global Overseas, has done good business with several Indian carpet companies... Other Indian trade participants in fairs did also good and attracted a large number of customers... We would like to thank the organizers for all the hospitality they showed and the good work they did... "
New & innovative products attracted visitors
During the 4-day fair, the visitors had the chance to see and touch the wide product range of the flooring industry. In addition to the popular products, interesting trends of today were also presented in the fair. In the Iranian fair pavilion, handmade patchwork carpets and sumac rugs painted with vegetable technique were exhibited. In the Chinese fair pavilion, mainly colorful carpets were presented. The characteristics of these carpets were that they were made by machines according to color orders from customers. In the German fair pavilion, innovative and futuristic solutions for the carpet and flooring sector were exhibited. The carpets, especially made from bamboo and corn, attracted great interest due to the respect shown to the ecological balance. The dust and moist-resistant design parcels also attracted attention. At local stands, various products, such as stress-free, special-content, negative-ion and light-weight carpets attracted attention.

Carpet and Rug Restoration Workshop
Another highlight of the fair was the "Carpet and Rug Restoration Workshop" which was held in cooperation with İHİB during the whole fair to attract attention to this special sector in Turkey.
Previously restored old carpets and rugs were presented to visitors, especially to old carpet buyers.
IHIB Carpet Design Competition
The IHIB carpet design competition awards ceremony was held on the first day of the fair. The carpet with the best design took the prize at the cocktail reception.
“The most important aspect of the Carpet Design Competition that we organized the 7th this year is to discover designers who will represent our country on the world stage. As İHİB, we entered into a triple cooperation with the university and the sector and set the goal of "10 designers in 10 years". In the world, design now makes a difference in this area. We are trying to inject the designer thinking tradition in young people. As we direct our young people to design, we are once again focusing on making Turkey the center of carpet."
The FFF (Future of Flooring Forum) was held on the second day of the fair and participation was free. On “International Perspective on Parquet Sector”, important speakers in the parquet industry discussed the developments and challenges in the parquet sector in the session moderated by Naci Güngör, Board Member of Wood Products and Forest Products Exporters Association.
Architecture plays an important role in Turkey due to the fact that the construction industry is on the rise. YES (The Aesthetics in Buildings) Forum has brought an important new perspective to the building sector in this sense. The Forum was held on the third day of the fair with the title of “The Position of Interior Architects in the Construction Sector” under the moderation of Yusuf Taner Gültekin, Chief of Istanbul Branch of TMMOB Interior Architecture Chamber. The three institutions jointly worked on the YES Forum 2013 (Aesthetics in Buildings) organization: Chamber of Interior Architects Istanbul Branch, Hannover Fairs Turkey Fuarcılık A.Ş. and GET Dış Ticaret LTD ŞTİ - ORSİAD Newspaper.
Deutsche Messe carries out four trade fairs in total under the DOMOTEX brand. The 2014 season of the DOMOTEX fairs opens on 11 January with the four-day Hannover-based show; the first and largest fair of the world’s leading DOMOTEX products is opening its gates. Two months later, between 25-27 May 2014, Deutsche Messe will join forces with Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, VNU Exhibitions Asia and Build Your Dream and exhibit the DOMOTEX ASIA/CHINAFLOOR event in Shanghai targeting commercial visitors from the entire Asia Pacific region. Shortly after that, on 1-3 April, Russia and the commonwealth of independent state will be gathered in Moscow to join DOMOTEX Russia.
